Buy or Bid Rules and Policies

At Buy or Bid, our goal is to create a secure and fair marketplace for all buyers and sellers, corporate or individual. To achieve this, we have put together a list of our guiding principals and policies, for both sellers and buyers. We expect all our users to read these policies and familiarize themselves with these rules. Please contact us through our feedback channels if you have any questions or concerns about our policies or may have any suggestions. We are always open to input to create the best platform for our customers.

Seller Policies

  • Only UAE based persons and organizations can list items on Buy or Bid.
  • The seller is responsible to ensure that the item listed is in the same condition as it is described.
  • The seller needs to ensure that that images used is that of the actual item and not a stock image.
  • The seller must own the item and have the right to sell it.
  • The seller must sell the item to the highest bidder or direct buyer of the site.
  • The seller agrees that the item can be returned to them within 7-days of sales if the item is faulty or not as described and they will bear the cost of return shipment for broken or faulty items.
  • The seller must abide and adhere to UAE cyber and criminal laws and acknowledge that their listing does not break UAE governing laws.
  • The seller must cooperate with the shipping company to coordinate for the earliest pick-up time available.

Seller and Selling Fees

  • There is no fee associated with creating a Seller’s account on Buy or Bid for individuals or businesses.
  • There is no limit on number of items listed on any account and Sellers can post an unlimited number of items free of charge.
  • Buy-or-Bid will deduct 10% of the final sale value of each item as admin and processing fee and will transfer the funds post deduction of 10% processing fee to the seller, applicable to all products except brand new electronics. The processing fee of all brand-new electronic items is only 4%.
  • There will be no sales commissions to be charged on any items sold on this site.
  • The seller will bear the cost of return-shipment if the item condition is not as advertised, or the item is damaged and broken, as well at 10% admin and processing fee. The returned item due to condition or fault is 10% even for brand-new electronics.

Listing Policies

  • When creating a listing, please provide as much information about your product as possible including but not limited to brand, make, model, age, technical specifications, size and dimensions, gender specification, condition, etc.
  • Post photos of the actual item and do not use stock images.
  • Include any flaws with the item condition in the specification; include multiple images of your products and goods; use good lighting for photography and include high resolution images.
  • When listing an item, you must provide 3 prices, the starting auction price, the reserve price and the buy it now price:
    • Start auction price: This should be the lowest of the 3 listed prices, and the price at which you would like to begin the auction on your product.
    • Reserve price: List your item’s reserved price at the lowest amount you are willing to sell for. If the highest bid does not reach your reserve price, the item will not be sold despite having bidders. Keep this lower than your Buy now price.
    • The buy now price: The value you wish to sell the item for, and if someone indicated that value, the bidding cycle is closed, and the item is sold to that buyer directly. This is similar to your selling price

Verification and Authentication Policies

  • Upon listing a product, Buy or Bid team will first review the post to ensure the listing is complete and the images provided match that of the description and stock images have not been used. If additional information is needed, the team will contact the seller to assist with verification. Upon approval, the items will be listed live on the website.
  • If any item listed is within the prohibited list, the item will not be listed on the site.
  • If you are selling a luxury item such as branded and designer bags, clothing, shoes, watches, or jewellery, we strongly recommend using a 3rd party authentication service to authenticate your products to increase the chance of product sales.

Tax Policies

  • As a UAE registered company, Buy or Bid is governed and follows the guidelines and mandates of UAE Federal Tax Authority.
  • There is no tax associated in buying and selling of personal items from individual vendors.
  • For corporate vendors, the final value of bid or direct buy, will be inclusive of 5% VAT. It is the sole responsibility of the Corporate Seller to account for 5% VAT value of sales and file with their quarterly tax returns.
  • Buy or Bid takes no responsibility for Tax value and return of Corporate Vendors but will disclose full information of Corporate Vendor’s item and sales value to FTA upon request from the authority or in case of a dispute.

Prohibited and Restricted Items

  • The following items are not allowed to be sold on Buy or Bid:
    • Adult items
    • Alcohol and alcoholic beverages
    • Animals and wildlife
    • Artifacts of national treasure
    • Broken, faulty, or counterfeit items
    • Culturally or religiously offensive items
    • Dirty, damaged, or broken items
    • Drugs or illegal substances
    • Event tickets or other types of tickets
    • Expired item
    • Fresh food and perishables
    • Hazardous material and substances
    • Stolen goods
    • Used cosmetics and personal hygiene products
    • Used undergarments

Buyer Policies

  • Buy or Bid caters to buyers from all countries in the Middle East and Africa.
  • To purchase an item, you can either bid for it, at 5 AED increment from reserve asking price or the highest bid, or if you really want an item, you can buy it at asking price and conclude the bidding cycle.
  • It is the responsibility of the buyer to examine all the product details before purchase, whether bidding or buying at listed price
  • The item will be sold to the highest bidder and the bidder will automatically be charged their bid amount plus cost of shipping to their shipping address
  • The buyer can return any item that is broken or faulty or not as described with 7-days of the purchase at no cost. We will arrange for the return and refund your money within 2-weeks.
  • If an item is returned for any other reasons than the above, the buyer will be charged 10% admin and processing fee as well as the return shipping fee

Shipping Policies

All Items sold on this website from Corporate Sellers can either:

  • Be shipped by the portal’s authorized shipping company, FedEx.
  • Or Shipped by Corporate Seller/Vendor, Free of Charge, with a 1-5 days guaranteed free delivery, and free return upon customer request. The cost of shipping, if Free shipping is chosen, is the sole responsibility of the vendor.
  • Or Shipped by Buy or Bid shipping service. Buy or Bid shipping service is charged at AED 10 per delivery and is available within the following Emirates only: Dubai, Ajman and Sharjah. Shipping is fulfilled within 3 – 5 days.
  • Vendors can choose their preferred shipping method(s) when listing the products, either Shipping visa FedEx, or own Free shipping.
  • Only selected shipping methods will be displayed to customers on the website.
  • For Individual Sellers, buyers can select to either pick up the items, or Seller can offer to drop off the items within the UAE or utilize the shipping services for items purchased. No Seller or Buyer address will be disclosed before completion of a transaction. Sellers can choose their preferred shipping methods while listing their item, and only selected methods will be displayed to customers on the website.
  • Items can be shipped in the Middle East and Africa.
  • Upon successful sales, if shipping by FedEx, the shipping company will contact the seller and will arrange for the first available shipping time.
  • The cost of shipping will be based on item’s weight and delivery location and is stated under each item sold.
  • The cost of shipping will be added to the final payment of the buyer and will be charged upon completion of sales.
  • Broken, damaged or faulty goods can be returned by buyer within 7-days of purchase at no cost.
  • If items are returned for any other reasons than stated here, the buyer will bear the cost of return shipment.
  • If the items are returned for being broken, faulty or falsely advertised, the seller will bear the shipping cost.

Return and Refund Policies

  • All purchases can be returned within 7-days of the purchase and refunds will be processed to the buyer within 2-weeks.
  • If items are returned because they are broken or faulty, the buyer will receive a full refund and will not be charged return shipping fees.
  • If the items are returned for any other reasons, a 10% admin and processing fee as well as return shipping fee will be charged to the buyer. If the value of processing fee and shipping fee are higher than the value of refund, the buyer will bear the additional cost.

Payment Policies

  • The funds (total value of monthly sales minus the processing fee) are transferred to all sellers on monthly basis, on the 3rd of each month. Should the 3rd fall on a weekend or holiday, the funds will be transferred the first working day post the holiday.
  • To ensure smooth operations and security for our buyers and sellers, we currently only accept card payments.
  • Our payment portals are secured and governed by UAE central bank policies.
  • All buyers and sellers are required to include payment card details at onset.
  • A verification charge of a 1 AED will be charged to your card. This amount will be refunded to your card after verification.
